Started my Internship at Aurelia Institute: Building the Future of Space Habitats

Updated: Jun 22

I am thrilled to announce that I have started my internship at the Aurelia Institute, working on the groundbreaking TESSERAE project. The project aims to revolutionize space habitats with self-assembling, adaptive structures.

Working with an Incredible Team

What excites me most about this internship is the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse group of people. From architects, designers, and artists who make the space habitats places you'd actually want to live in, to engineers who are teaching me what it takes to design systems ready for space, this collective merger of talents is truly exciting. I am eager to learn as much as possible and gain valuable experience from these brilliant minds.

My Role in the TESSERAE Project

I will mainly be working on GEN5 of the TESSERAE prototype, helping it get ready for a full-scale mission on the ISS. As a swarm roboticist, this presents a fresh and exciting challenge. I am particularly interested in exploring how the tiles can collaborate to form a cohesive space habitat, much like how cells work together to form a cohesive living organism.

Looking Ahead

This internship at the Aurelia Institute is more than just a stepping stone in my career—it's a chance to be part of something transformative. I am excited to contribute to the mission of democratizing space living. I look forward to the day when I can live in one of these habitats myself. Stay tuned for more updates as I dive deeper into this fascinating project and share our progress in creating the space habitats of tomorrow!
